Los Angeles Entertainment Technology Consultant
Technical Strategy • AI Product Development • Streaming Infrastructure • Creator Platforms
I’m Ryan Vinson, founder of VersusMedia and FilmPilot.ai. I help entertainment companies, creator platforms, film teams, and AI media startups make better technical decisions, evaluate developers, modernize legacy systems, and bring practical software products to market.
My background combines 25+ years of hands-on product development, entertainment industry experience, streaming platform operations, Django and Python systems, AI workflow automation, and the kind of practical technical judgment that comes from building and running real products over multiple startup cycles.
“A Swiss Army knife of technology solutions.”
Fractional CTO support for film, music, streaming, and creator focused companies. I help define product direction, evaluate technical tradeoffs, supervise developers, and turn creative business goals into realistic software plans.
Guidance on AI features that are useful, shippable, and cost aware. Experience includes screenplay analysis, audience simulation, image generation workflows, production planning tools, marketing automation, content analysis, and custom OpenAI based systems.
Strategy and oversight for video platforms, Roku channels, Apple TV apps, Android apps, web PWAs, HLS workflows, encoding pipelines, metadata systems, FAST style channels, and video hosting transitions.
Technical review and leadership for Django applications, backend rebuilds, Celery task systems, API integrations, payment flows, cloud storage, worker processes, and production operations. I can help identify risk before a rebuild gets expensive.
Help hiring or evaluating developers, reviewing existing codebases, creating technical roadmaps, improving QA practices, and building a lightweight process that keeps product work moving without drowning a small team in overhead.
Practical feedback on MVP scope, build versus buy decisions, launch sequencing, automation opportunities, customer workflows, technical debt, and the hidden operational issues that often appear after launch.

Founder Led Software Products
Built and operated a long-running independent film and music platform that began with music licensing and evolved into a streaming destination with Roku, Apple TV, Android, and web PWA distribution.
VersusMedia now supports a catalog of over 800 indie films, short films, and music videos, along with creator focused tools, automated royalties, and streaming infrastructure for niche media audiences.
Created FilmPilot.ai, an AI powered production support platform for screenwriters, producers, and filmmakers. The system generates screenplay feedback, simulated audience reviews, production breakdowns, location scouting reports, budget estimates, storyboards, pitch materials, and other filmmaker focused deliverables.
FilmPilot.ai reflects the type of practical AI work I focus on: structured outputs, real production workflows, automated fulfillment, PDF and document generation, task orchestration, and customer ready creative tools.
Developed and supervised systems involving video ingestion, catalog management, streaming metadata, API integrations, payment workflows, creator payout logic, background tasks, cloud storage, and connected TV delivery.
My work is especially useful for teams that need someone who understands both the creative side of media and the operational reality of keeping software platforms running.
Review the current product, team, codebase, workflows, vendors, risks, and business goals.
Separate urgent technical issues from nice-to-have ideas, then create a realistic plan for what should happen next.
Provide ongoing CTO level oversight, developer guidance, product feedback, and technical decision support.
6+ years of training with continuous proficiency advancement. I’ve taken solo immersion trips to Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Qingdao, Yantai, Kunming, and Mile. Though I have not taken official testing, I estimate my proficiency to be around HSK3.
I also follow the Chinese film industry and understand many of the themes, audience expectations, and cultural considerations that can affect international entertainment projects.
Basic understanding of the language with ongoing exposure and practical experience. I have also been involved in producing Cambodian film projects.
Experience localizing websites and digital products into Spanish, French, and other languages as part of global-facing media and entertainment projects.
Available for fractional CTO consulting, technical reviews, entertainment-tech advisory work, AI media product strategy, and selected speaking engagements.
